The trick to a good Richmond Hill weekend in 2026 is not finding something to do. It is choosing between the things stacked on top of each other inside a two-mile stretch.
That stretch is worth naming. Almost every event and new restaurant worth blocking off a Saturday for sits along the Ford Avenue and Cedar Street corridor between the Richmond Hill History Museum and J.F. Gregory Park. You can plan an entire summer here without ever crossing US-17.
The Cedar Street cluster is doing more work than it used to
J.F. Gregory Park has always anchored the town, but the venues around it have thickened. The Richmond Hill City Center sits directly across Cedar Street from the park at 520 Cedar, and the park itself covers more than 300 acres of gardens and wetlands twelve miles south of Savannah. Add the Wetlands Center at 240 Cedar and the Richmond Hill Library four blocks over on Ford, and a resident with a bicycle has four programmed venues inside one loop.
The result is that a lot of the summer calendar reads like the same block hosting different tenants each weekend. That is unusual for a town this size, and it is the reason a "what's on this weekend" search in Richmond Hill returns something new every time.

- July 25 — Savannah Sultry Swamp Run at the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal Museum and Nature Center. The Sultry Swamp Run is scheduled for Sat 25 Jul 2026 from 7:00 AM at the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal Museum and Nature Center. A 7 a.m. gun makes this the only event on the list worth setting an alarm for.
- August 1 — Cars & Coffee again at the Richmond Hill History Museum. Cars & Coffee is back at the History Museum on Aug 1, 2026.
The Farmers Market keeps running on Cedar Street through the summer as well, with a Family Market and Kids Selling Event on the calendar for June 20 at 521 Cedar Street.
What "Live After Five" changed about Thursday nights
The newer variable in the mix is Heartwood. Live After Five runs at The Outfitters at Heartwood on Outfitters Drive, and the series was on the Visitor Bureau calendar as early as Apr 03, 2026, at 35 Outfitters Drive. It is a Thursday evening series, which pulls a different crowd than the Saturday park events. If your week is booked with kids' activities on the weekend, this is the workaround.
The relevance for a resident is simple. Before Heartwood added its clubhouse and outfitters programming, Thursday nights in Richmond Hill meant a drive north to Pooler or east into Savannah. Now they do not. The town's evening options finally match its Saturday options.
A useful rule of thumb: if you are inside the Ford Avenue and Cedar Street loop, plan for the park and the museum. If you are south of Belfast Keller Road, aim for Heartwood.
Where to eat between the events
The corridor's restaurant lineup shifted in the last twelve to eighteen months in a way that matters if you have been ordering the same thing at the same three places for a decade.
Start with Bella Mia's Cucina Italiana Restaurant & Bar at 10747 Ford Avenue, open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It sits close enough to the History Museum that a Cars & Coffee morning can roll into an early dinner without a car move.
If you want something more casual after the park, The Local on 17 and Torch'D Burgers & Wings both show up on the current Richmond Hill "new restaurants" lists, alongside Hwangso Gopchang for Korean barbecue and Nasso Donut for a Sunday-morning stop before the library sale. La Nopalera and Smokin Pig remain the reliable Ford Avenue anchors when a family cannot agree.
For a Thursday night with adults only, Debellation Brewing Co has been hosting comedy nights this summer — Richmond Hill Comedy Night! Live Standup Comedy Show ran Fri 12 Jun 2026 from 7:30 PM onwards at Debellation Brewing Co. Watch their schedule for the July and August dates. It is the closest thing the town has to a small-room comedy venue.
The one weekend worth driving for
The Sultry Swamp Run is the outlier on this list, and it is the one to build a Saturday around. The Savannah-Ogeechee Canal Museum and Nature Center sits west of town off Fort Argyle Road, and the trails around the old canal locks stay cooler than anything closer to the marsh. A 7 a.m. race start means you are done before the humidity peaks around ten. The museum grounds themselves are a good post-race walk with kids who want to see turtles rather than pavement.
Fort McAllister State Park at 3894 Fort McAllister Road is the other summer standby that the Visitor Bureau keeps on its permanent list. It is not hosting a dated headline event in July, but the boat ramp and picnic grounds do their usual quiet work through the season. Pack a cooler and go.
